It's that time of year again folks. TV shows are premiering and already, I have opinions:
7th Heaven
The eleventh season of 7th Heaven premiered last night. I only saw the first half of it, but I saw enough to be able to tell you what I think so far.
Basically, I got the feeling that most people that were on the show didn't even want to come back. I don't get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Simon and Ruthie this season, and according to Wikipedia's 7th Heaven article I might very well be right.
So, the question is, can the show run with so few of its core cast? Ruthie had been playing a much larger role within the last few years and without her, they only really have the character of Martin to appeal to teenagers (though he has already graduated high school).
I'm not saying it can't--I mean, the show is pretty much indestructable--but from what I saw last night, it just seemed kinda like it was pasted together or something.
Another thing I was surprised of that they dealt with was Lucy's miscarriage. It's a very risky way for the show to go, so it's kind of a shock that they would go full force into it in the season premiere.
If you look at former WB show, Related, it was cancelled a few episodes after main character Ginnie Sorelli had a miscarriage. My mother said flatout that it was no coincidence and I don't think so either. I think it's a risky topic to touch on -- one that a lot of people really don't want to think about, let alone see on a TV show that they usually enjoy watching.
Grey's Anatomy
Someone needs to give me a complete play by play. I practically missed the whole episode as it was preempted due to severe weather.
Life With Derek
Life with Derek is like the only reason I watch the Disney Channel. Yes, the Disney Channel. Deal. With. It.
And while it didn't just have its season premiere on there, it did come back from a mini-hiatus. This season is already better than the last and I'm muy excited to see what's in store next.
Shows I'm looking foward to:
Gilmore Girls
I saw a add for the premiere last night, and I gotta say, I'm not surprised by what I saw. SPOILER ALERT It showed a clip of Luke punching Christopher. I was just telling someone the other week how I knew that would happen. I just knew it. And I can't blame him. Don't get me wrong, I love Christopher, but I think that Lorelai is meant to be with Luke. I mean, they've been building it up during the whole show.
Smallville
This is the show I've looked forward to most. It always finales on a cliffhanger, so it's always interesting to see what happens in the premieres -- how the characters escape certain doom, etc.
But what I'm looking forward to most about this premiere episode is how Lana sees Lex once she finds out he's posessed by Zod. I know that she will accept him basically with the phrase (or a varient) "I know it wasn't really you", but I just want to see it. Because Lana respects Lex so much, it's a bigger let down when he lets her down. I have no doubt that they will come back from this, but I just want to -- again -- see it.
I'll probably write on my Gilmore girls reactions later, so stay tuned.

Hey Carrie. I love the new blue of your blog. I missed the Gilmore Girls, so I'm looking forward to hearing your synopsis and take on it.
For Smallville, like you, I'm looking forward to seeing Lana recognizing that this dude is not the Lex she knows. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing her re-telling Lex that she wants to be with him when he's himself again. ::happy sigh:: Can't help but love L/L. :)

In retrospect, I am sooo happy with the way Lana figured it out. I think we're all in L/L heaven. ;) lol
