Okay, so I decided to wait to do my Gilmore Girls review until I saw Smallville tonight, so I could lump them both together.

Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls premiered Tuesday night. I liked it, but I got the feeling that there was just something...different.

I know that the Palladinos left the show; coupling that with the fact that Lorelai slept with Christopher...I guess that accounts for the weirdness.
I loved the Kirk crashing Taylor's car into the diner scene. It was spot-on and priceless, but it also made me sad. I don't want the diner to go bye-bye. Many a' important scene were had at that diner, so it would be a sad day indeed if that were to happen.

So, since Rory's going to England, I suppose they might flash-forward a few months. (I mean, isn't it unusual for them to start the new season in the middle of their summer anyway?) She's not going to be gone for Christmas though, that's for certain. I wonder if it'll cause a fight between her and Logan...I wonder how long it'll take for she and Logan to fight. It's just too easy as is right now.

And speaking of relationships...Lorelai isn't with Luke or Christopher. Hah. And I was so right when I told Travis that Luke would punch Christopher. (Not that he has yet, but he does in a later episode, because I saw a little clippy thingie on the TV.)

So yeah, all I can say is, it was good, but I hope the next episode is better.

Smallville

I. Loved. It. I loved it. Pure and simple.

Michael Rosenbaum did an awesome job portraying Zex (Zod in Lex's body). It wasn't mechanical or anything. It was really natural, except the humanity that's normally present in Lex's eyes was gone. It was great to watch.

I really love how Lana was portrayed in this episode. We really got to see her strenghts -- even literally. At one point, we saw Zod stab her hand pinning it to the wall. She pulled it out, escaped, and went about finding a way to stop him.
And she came close to stopping him, but I guess Zod just kinda expected it.

What I don't think he thought about was: How is he going to procreate if he kills every woman on the planet plus Lana? Seriously? I mean, even with Lana, his kids are going to have to marry each other which is icky. If he was smart about it, he would've had a harem prepared. That way, the kids would've at worst had to marry their half-siblings, which is gross, but at least they may be able to escape some of the oddities that come along with inbreeding.

I loved the Mionel hug. It just kinda cemented the fact that Martha is okay with Lionel being around and in her life, etc. Mionel are cute.

And I get the feeling that Clark is going to get a taste of what Chloe has been going through for the last several years. Now that Lana's out of the romantic picture, Chloe gets Jimmy. Isn't it karmic?

The last scene with Lexana was great. I can't quote what Lex told her exactly, but the gist was that putting the pieces back together is hard, but some things are worth it. Anyway, it was cute/nice and kinda sets the tone for the things to come.

Another thing: When Zex was all like, "you could be at my side to Lana", a friend of mine, Robin, mentioned on Dark Passagethat it reminded her of Onyx. When I saw that part, I saw it as a foreshadowing of things to come, as well. It's a choice Lana is always going to have to make with Lex: Stay, even though he's going down a dark path, or walk away from the one person who really gets her, who loves her the way she's always wanted to be loved.

It's tragic, really. But I <3>
