Reviews and Genealogy Musings

TV

Gilmore Girls

Okay, it's been awhile since I saw the last episode, but here are my thoughts: For some reason, I'm warming up to Lorelai/Christopher thing. I mean, I still want her to end up with Luke, but I find that I am enjoying Lorelai/Christopher. I can't really explain it except for the fact that I just like them both as characters. lol

But I still like Lorelai/Luke better.

Smallville

"Wither" made me so happy. It was way better than "Sneeze".

Firstly, I loved the way they opened it up with Chloe and Jimmy in the car, about to make out. I adore Jloe...or Chlimmy -- whatever. It's freaking hiliarious to see Clarkie getting all jealous over them. And jealous, he definitely is.

While I expected Lex to be Alexander the Great, I think it's funny that Lana was Cleopatra Thea Philopater. While Alexander and Cleopatra lived hundreds of years apart, that's not why I find the costume choice funny, but because of the fact that they were almost definitely relations. And that added a subtle level of kink to Sexana.

And that brings me to my next topic.

Genealogy

In my on-going quest to trace my family's lineage, I've found out a few things about my relationship to a few famous people:

Robert E. Lee is my fourth cousin, seven times removed.

Thomas Jefferson is my third cousin, nine times removed.

Sir William Wallace is my 25th great-uncle.

Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor is my 46th great-grandfather.

Bishop John Overall is my 12th great-grandfather.

Pocahontas is my 13th great-grandmother.

Anne Parr Herbert, sister of Catherine, wife of Henry VIII is my 14th great-grandmother.

Say what you like about them, but they did make an impact on history. And I think that's why it's important for people to have some sort of knowledge of where they come from.

Other Stuff

I'm still sick. Grr. And I could really go for a coffee.

Also, last night our town was having some sort of music thing. The music was at least a mile away and I could hear every freaking word that was sang with my TV turned up. Grr.

I wonder who all was there. Had my eardrums not ruptured -- if I attended -- I might've liked it.

And tomorrow looks promising on the coffee front. I need to exchange some sandblasted jeans (that I didn't pick out), ergo I'll be in the vacinity of Le Beau's coffee shop. Yay!
