Listen Up, Losers

I have a list of things that strangers (meaning males that I've never even seen before in my life) aren't allowed to call me:

1. Babe (The absolute worst.)

2. Sexy (About just as bad as "babe".)

3. Baby

4. Sugar

5. Dollface

6. Hun

7. Honey

(There's proboably more that I've just forgotten.)

But these are words/epithets that only people who have, at the very least, met me are allowed to use.

When the first thing a guy says to me ends (or begins) with "sexy" or "babe", it is an absolute turn-off. And not just a little, inconsequential turn-off, but a major one, which makes me think "loser". And it says to me that they really don't think that much of me, or else they wouldn't refer to me by some generic term they use for every other girl they attempt to talk to.

Girls have names. It's true. We really do. We're not all called "babe" or "sexy". So, whatever her name is, go out and learn it.

And calling us "babe" or whatever doesn't make us feel better when you don't even know us. It doesn't make (most of) us feel hot. A lot of women have been conditioned to ignore it, but I grew up watching Jessie on Saved By the Bell, so I don't take any male chauvinist crap. And other girls shouldn't either.

And I know most men don't like to be objectified, so why do they do it to women? I suppose it has to do with the fact that they're so used to getting away with it, they just forgot it's wrong. Well...that just doesn't cut it.

All of this isn't to say that I would never want to be called "baby" or something, but "baby" is a term of endearment...which would have to be reserved for someone who actually -- well -- knows me, even just a little bit.

Oh -- and you know what's funny? I don't mind random women calling me "baby", or "hun", or "love", because most of them aren't male chauvinists. It's all about the context.

See? I have an opinion on everything. XD

And whoever calls me "babe" the first time they talk to me...totally isn't getting a cookie. At all. (And "cookie" is not a synonym for sex. Apparently some people -- meaning males -- think it is...perverts.)

End rant.
