Adios, Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls

So, my beloved Gilmore Girls finaled last week for good. So sad. I couldn't write about it until today, because I've been in mourning. I was that upset. If I was capable of crying, so I would've then. =/

My thoughts?

I was glad that they included everyone (sure Logan, Paris, Dean, Jess, etc. weren't there, but come on! Where we expecting that?). The finale was sweet, but stopped the sweetness just before it was so sweet it was cheesy, mainly using humor to shake it up.

Obviously, I'm glad that Luke and Lorelai ended up together. They were meant to be. It's just one of those things. And then little Rory, off to conquer the world of journalism without her dearest mommy to hold her hand. (That kinda made me sad, but a good sad.)

My favorite part, I guess, was the fact that it didn't feel like an ending -- it felt like a beginning. That, perhaps, was the only thing that made it bearable to watch. In my mind's eye, I can still see the people of Stars Hollow going about their daily lives, etc. And I loved where they ended it, in Luke's diner. Which, if I'm not mistaken, was where it began too, right?

I was watching a video interview between Michael Ausiello of TV Guide and Milo Ventimiglia at the upfronts, I believe it was. The conversation quickly turned the the Gilmore Girls finale. (This must've been a few days ago, because they were talking as though the finale hadn't happened yet.) Apparently, there were four words that "Amy" (I'm assuming the show's creater, Amy Sherman-Palladino) wanted to end the show on, and Michael confirmed to Milo that the show did not end on those words. And now I'm -- like -- dying to know. Amy seems like she had a very focused direction for the show, so I bet those words were damn good. Also, it seems Michael Ausiello gets to be privy to the information. (For some reason, I doubt he'll tell anyone...except for possibly Milo. heh.)

So...I can live with the way it ended. It was nice, I guess. I just wish it would get renewed at the last minute like 7th Heaven did last year, but I won't it won't happen.

Heroes

A few months ago, I thought Tim Kring (the show's creater, etc) hated Paire fans, but now I think he may love us after all. We've been getting amazing scenes!

I loved it when HRG was prepared to send Claire off to Nebraska to live with Peter (and Ted too, but we don't care so much about that =P). And I also loved it when Peter and Claire (and Ted as well) were going to get a rental car. Claire was talking about being a super hero and going on patrol after they save the world and for some reason her lover uncle, Peter, feels the need to mention something about his underwear. Yeah. They're so not uncle and niece. Aaaand then Claire wonders aloud why they can't fly to Nebraska. And he gives her a look that makes her explain "in a plane" (because Peter can fly). lol Now, that was almost flirting. Even a non-Paire shipper would see that. Again, they're sooo not uncle and niece. Hell...Regis Philbin sees it, the awesome Michael Ausiello sees it, I see it. I think we've established that everyone sees it.

Oh and it was so hilarious whenever they were going to get the rental car, because Sylar was following them. And Peter, having absorbed Matt's ability, could hear Sylar's creepy thoughts. And do you know what are beloved villain was doing?! He was eating ice cream! Ice cream, I tell you! And nonchalantly at that, as though he wasn't even remotely stalking them to eat their brains and steal their powers. To me, that is the scariest sort of villain.

I thought all of the Matt/HRG and Mohinder/Molly scenes were well done. HRG is such a bad ass. He kills his friends to protect his family. Poor Thompson. *shakes head* But it's karma, really. Thompson was the reason why HRG had to shoot Claude, after all.

And I really liked getting to know Candice more; at first, I hated the character, but now that I know more about her, I actually sympathize with her. I still think working with Linderman is not cool, but I see why she does it. She, unlike Nathan, is in it for a genuine reason. She really believes Linderman will make the world a better place. Which isn't that cool, since I'm sure she's aware that he wants Peter to explode and destroy .07% of the human population. But still, her motives are understandable and aren't of a selfish nature.

D.L. killing Linderman was really unexpected, for me, anyway. I thought Linderman might hang around longer, so I was compeltely shocked when he got that stunned expression on his face and his eyes got all weird and bulgy and he fell to the ground. That was probably one of the most unique deaths I've ever seen on TV. (For those who didn't watch, D.L. used his power to enter Linderman's brain with his fist and then pulled it -- fist, not brain -- out. It looked very icky.)

And then Ted died. I kinda expected it. We all knew it had to be between Peter and Sylar in the end. And don't you just love how desensitized Peter and Claire are? I mean, there's a trafic jam as they're trying to get out of the city, so they get out of the car to see what the hold up is and find their traveling companion dead, the top of his skull ripped clean off. And they're like, more or less, "Ted is dead, omg, that sucks. We need to leave, no!!" But I still love them. ;)

And how they ended it? OMG! I know HRG won't shoot Molly, but I was still like "Noooo!! Don't shoot the little girl!!"

It seems via the previews that: D.L. isn't dead, that Matt gets shot, and that Claire has to jump out of a window, pressumably to save Peter.

My thoughts is that Claire will not shoot Peter. She's been all about Peter ever since they met and she doesn't want to believe it's her destiny to kill him, so she won't. She'll find another way around it.

So, character death count for "Landslide": Three. RIP Ted, Linderman, and Thompson.
